This is was to be the second of two brand new rally’s which have appeared on the Scottish calendar in 2008, the scene here in Scotland is enjoying a massive boom with more and more clubs forming and reforming of old clubs all the time with people returning to the scene after a break, and many of our English friends becoming regulars on the Scottish scene.
On arriving at the rally site I really didn’t know what to expect this being a first time rally, held in a rugby club with a social club and a old building which had a big gym come dance floor, showers and all the other amenities that are expected on rally’s these days, on site already were Donald and his pal from the Belgium Dirty Devils SC.
I chilled out in the sun awaiting the arrival of the Kathleen and the Animals, as mates from just about every Scottish club rolled in, the Lone Sharks, Wild Turkeys, Clyde Panthers, Glasgow Globetrotters, Gorehounds, A92’s, Peterhead SC and many more including a guy on a TV 175 all the way from Plymouth, I knew this rally was going to be a great success.
Friday nights bash was held in the social club, with the SKABABS on stage, Ska’s not my thing but they really went down a storm. It was a great chance to catch up with everyone we hadn’t seen since the Stirling rally a couple of weeks ago.
Saturday day time had the usual ride out this time to a whiskey distillery then back to the site for the usual fun and games, like tossing the caber and haggis throwing all done to the sound of a piper in full highland dress, as well as a few stalls selling new and second hand spares I managed to bag myself a few bargains.
Saturday nights do was in the big hall with the band Mental Channel # 1 playing and were pretty good and played everything from the Clash to The Who, with the Northern Soul room upstairs also playing some blinding tunes, the rally was well organised and a great success and I am sure will become a regular on the Scottish Rally Calendar.
Great to chat to Paul R from Peterhead SC, Teri from Dundee and a couple of other Ex Forces Scooterists that I spoke to.
