Well,
what a weekend. While everyone was heading south to the Isle of Mod
some of us was heading North of Otterburn to the Beer Pigs Rally and boy
it was worth all the pain. What a top crew and a more friendlier bunch
you will never meet.
Me and
Daniel left sunny Southport and headed over to Scotch Corner which was
the RV and on arrival saw a mean beast of a Renegade GP scooter that
belonged to Jamie of Nuneaton Pacemakers and a top lad too, he was
waiting for Ravey so we sat and shot the proverbial until they
arrived. Ian, Lisa weren't too far behind and before long we were
riding towards Newcastle. The weather was horrific and you have to
give everyone credit who made it to Beer Pigs for there aquatic
endurance.
I could
say we took it steady in the rain but anyone who knows me knows I ride
at a speed where the flies hit you in the back of the head and Miss
Daisy looks like a Gangster Drive By bitch. I was doing alright until
I was over taken by a double Decker Bus and thought no one had noticed
but then the Ice Cream van went by............sorry everyone!
Anyway,
its about the journey and little did we know but our great friend Craig
and Kathleen who had already had a family charged emotional day were
heading south from Glasgow and the wake when Craig blew his piston on
the ever beautiful Black GP. He turned around and both he and Kathleen
saddled up the T5 and set off again, determination that needed a
medal. We arrived about 7 pm after teaming up with Jimmy the Blade and
by now Jamie was part of the furniture. A crate of Fosters was hammered
and it was off to see the bands. Craig and Kathleen arrived at about
11pm and it was great to see them.
From what
I recall one was alright and the other was good and the Scooter Crews
were soon getting into it. There were members from the Salford
Knights, Ska'd for Life, A19, Dog Catchers, Newcastle Dragons and the
ever famous Pogue Mahone a club local to me in Southport, they know how
to party!!!! I am sure there were many others including what must have
been ASBO SC!! LOL. A bit of 'Pretty Vacant' was brilliant to watch as
each other tried to knock one another out!!! Fcukin mad or what!!
Anyway,
the rain had stopped and by 10 in the morning the BBQ's were on and
people were swimming in the river, the adult bouncy castle was up and
the sun was shining so who cares, the company was brilliant and we did
it all again on Saturday.
For me
the small rallies remind me of the German rallies, no big timers, no one
ripping you off to see your mates scooter and everyone there for one
thing...friendship. Will I go next year, too right, in fact I've got my
ticket already!!!! |
